Composition bland

It's the same old tired melody lines and chord progressions I've heard before by everyone both unprofessional and signed musicians. It all follows a basic formula, and it's kinda dull to me. Try and invent something a little bit more original.

Also your guitar tone is really fuzzy and has an overall bad sound. :/

Yuck D:

The rhythm is boring and repetitive, and the lead guitar is horribly out of key and sounds like noise throughout the whole thing. The bass has a neat pattern going, and the drums are just as repetitive as the guitar. But it's 43 seconds long, so that's not really long enough to get on someone's nerves. In a general point of reference to the track length though, it's repetitive.

I like the sound of the bass and the drums, though.

Just a bit more composition and/or theory practice is all.

Pretty sweet.

Pretty good composition, the rhythms could be a little more unique though, it's all quite typical of metal.

I just don't like the stale sounds and the weakness of the synth guitar sounds, and the bass could be a little more interesting.

jor182 responds:

I agree, the sound sucks, haha, but i dont have the resources to record my guitar... yet :p... thanks for reviewing!

Tasty time signatures

This has some sweet chord progressions and a catchy rhythm to it, all while jumping time signatures. Love the track.

sculpted-cold responds:

Word! I might add vocals to this pretty soon...dunno' yet. No comments on the drums :P? I spent the most time on them, hehe.

Thanks for the review, sir!

I love it.

The melodies are awesome, the drums are perfect, vocals are soothing, the instruments are well done and everything is presented very well.

Keep making music.

This is a great composition

But for really great quality, you don't want clipping. I like the structure and the tone of this a lot though.

This is awesome, a bit of timing cleanups and lose the clipping and this would be a great piece. I love it, just not how it's presented.

MonkeyV responds:

Thank you for the review.
I don't like the clipping either, so i'll try to fix that.

Well..

Sounds like some poorly sequenced and drums that do not fit with their respective samples at all. I assumed you just used all the white keys on a piano roll for your melodies, considering it's in the key of C, and the melody isn't diverse at all. The tempo changes sound very weak, and not energetic. Again that's when you're using the wrong drum samples.

Also, what's a melody without a chord progression? You have two instruments here, a rather annoying synth and bad drums. The silence before the crash cymbal sounds very out of place, and I basically agree with the last reviewer. You need more experience.

Odd..

The bells near the beginning sound out of tune, and in general, it sounds very synthesized, rather than the warm midtone feeling of an orchestra.

The piano should have some serious reverb to match the feeling of the background pads and what not. It could also use a way stronger set of chords that really moves the listener.

The delay synth at the end had a creepy touch to it that could work if this song progresses across a longer timespan than just a minute. More reverb and letting the track instruments work together.

Staxitix responds:

I agree with the bells, I debated for a long time to keep them in there at all. However I think the pads all flow into each other fine :P

Don't post other people's music.

This is not your song. Please only upload original content.

Not really heavy metal

Just because there is distorted guitars involved, that doesn't necessarily mean metal, but still, awesome track!

It's well composed and has a great melody, but your guitar sounds slightly out of tune. The harmonies just sound a little off, at least so says my sense of relative pitch. But the composition is excellent!

BuryYourFace responds:

yes I always try to be off a bit to give it more of a trashy feel to it. It just feels more like me and what I like. Yes 5th string I keep sharper than the 4th. I have my reasons ;)
